At least, the brief video capture of a big barracuda hurtling high out of the water to land squarely on the foredeck of a center console Yellowfin speaks volumes — about the excitement and unpredictability of fish and fishing. One might argue also, it speaks to the dangers, but most sports have their dangers. However, many sports lack the surprise that is a part of nearly every day on the water.

Gator Attacks Fisherman in Kayak

The incident at a lake in central Florida was caught on video

No, it wasn’t in salt water — but the message is the same: It’s probably not a wise move to bring a small dog out on your kayak in waters where alligators are present.

Thomas Swiader was fishing peacefully along a tree-laden island in central Florida’s Lake Triplet last Wednesday with his girlfriend’s dog, Buffy, when a huge gator attacked his kayak.

World Fisheries Congress Convenes in Scotland to Address Sustainable Fishing
