Slip Rig For Fishing

This is the way I rig my bobbers for freshwater fishing. I was getting turned off by the springs that come on typical pencil bobbers/ floats as they damage fishing line and cause me to lose fish. This setup with the 1/4″ surgical or aquarium tubing prevents line wear and fish loss due to break offs. Also, this rig is easy to adjust on the fly, which is nice when you are on the move from spot to spot. It also helps to quickly get into the zone where the fish are. Sometimes 6″ depth change makes all the difference between catching fish and not catching fish. I use this same rig for panfish, brown trout, rainbow trout, northern pike, walleye, yellow perch, you name it. This rig works great in the river for big browns and steelhead too. You can place one piece of tubing on top of the bobber as well to hold in perfect alignment with the fishing line which is nice for finesse fishing. I called this a slip bobber, but actually it’s more of a slide bobber. I had lots of 1/4″ tubing leftover from my tropical blackwater fish keeping days and this is the result. Hope it helps!
